Today, Old Cahawba Archaeological Park is an important archaeological site located in Orrville, Alabama and a place of picturesque ruins. Nature has reclaimed much of Old Cahawba, but historians and archaeologist are working hard to uncover Cahawba’s historic past and to create a full-time interpretive park.
Old Cahawba is Alabama’s most famous ghost town and a wonderful place to visit, create memories, explore, and learn. The Park sponsors wagon tours, bird watching, cemetery preservation, bike rides, haunted history tours and much more. There are few places where the wonders of nature combine with so many elements of history. Old Cahawba’s grounds as well as the historic St. Luke’s Church are used for family reunions and large gatherings. Old Cahawba is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been featured on dozens of travel websites as an important site to see when visiting Selma.
