” Take a Seat and Enjoy the Show” (Choctaw): Thanks to the help of Alabama Tom RC&D, the Conecuh County Jr. Cattlemen were able to purchase a portable set of bleachers that will be used from year to year. These bleachers which have the extra wide foot, side rails and even a middle rail that will allow all spectators an opportunity to enjoy the Pig, Chicken, Goat, and Steer and Heifer Show. Because these bleachers are portable, this will allow them to be transported to different events, regardless of the location. (Read more)
AED and Medical Supplies (Choctaw): We applied for this grant to update our AED equipment in order to provide emergency medical attention to our faculty and students if needed. (Read more)
Bigbee Canine Kennel Repair & Replacement (Marengo): We had 4 to 5 kennels that were rusted and completely uninhabitable. We always have a waiting list as we are only volunteers and not funded by our county. We were able to repair and replace those kennels which moved 5 more dogs off of our waiting list. (Read more)
Broadhead Memorial Park (Choctaw): Project funs were used to make repairs to the Broadhead Memorial Park Pavilion and log cabin. The park is used by many for school trips, birthday parties, family reunions, and other community events. (Read more)
Butler PD Car Cameras (Choctaw): The crime rates in the City of Butler need to decrease, and the police department lacks the updated technology to expand their safety resources. This grant would help purchase reliable dashboard cameras that will document each police officer’s public safety situation. Currently, the police department owns four cameras that hold an insufficient amount of data storage compared to the extent necessary. The police department needs upgraded dashboard cameras to provide high-definition recordings for documenting public interaction, officer training, public safety, and the overall reassurance for the community. Cahawba Advisory Committee (Dallas): Today, Old Cahawba Archaeological Park is an important archaeological site located in Orrville, Alabama and a place of picturesque ruins. Nature has reclaimed much of Old Cahawba, but historians and archaeologist are working hard to uncover Cahawba’s historic past and to create a full-time interpretive park. Old Cahawba is Alabama’s most famous ghost town and a wonderful place to visit, create memories, explore, and learn. The Park sponsors wagon tours, bird watching, cemetery preservation, bike rides, haunted history tours and much more. There are few places where the wonders of nature combine with so many elements of history. Old Cahawba’s grounds as well as the historic St. Luke’s Church are used for family reunions and large gatherings. Old Cahawba is on the National Register of Historic Places and has been featured on dozens of travel websites as an important site to see when visiting Selma. (Read more)

Economic Feasibility (Monroe): This project was created to reduce costs associated with marketing and promotional materials by eliminating the need to retain professional photographers and graphic designers for services. This project allowed the Monroeville Monroe County Economic Development Authority to provide photography and design support to other entities working to promote Monroe County. (Read more)
Excel Community Center (Monroe): The Town of Excel strives to provide a meeting place for ball teams, community functions and family reunions to gather in a safe environment. The Community Center was in desperate need of tables and chairs. with the grant from Ala-Tom RC&D, we purchased 11 tables and 44 chairs. (Read more)
Facility Improvement Clarke County Animal Shelter (Clarke): We used the grant money to purchase outside kennels for Clarke County Animal Shelter. The kennels are used every day to put dogs in so that the inside kennels can be cleaned. Prior to our purchase the dogs were breaking out of the old kennels and were getting injured. (Read more)
Get HIRED (Choctaw): The SCHS FFA is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential in premiere leadership, personal growth, and career success. This year, the SCHS FFA hosted a BOOT (Building Occupational Opportunities for Tomorrow) camp for seniors to help them get more prepared and more confident in being college or career ready. After gaining knowledge from attending the National FFA Convention, FFA members and officers collaborated with partners from the ALFA, Georgia Pacific, International Paper, Coastal Alabama Community College, and other in the community to host hands on training with practice and feedback in the areas of communications, teamwork, resume writing, social media use, and interviewing. HHS Varsity Girls Basketball Spirit Packs (Coneuch): The objective of this project, is to purchase spirit packs for the Hillcrest High School Varsity Girls Basketball Team in Evergreen AL. They are in need of complete basketball uniform sets for each of its players for the upcoming season. This includes the uniforms, warm-ups, shoes, socks and backpacks. The Varsity Girls Basketball Team has a rich tradition of winning. In the last six years; they have a 91-38 record, 3 Area Championships, 1 Final Four Appearance, 1 Regional Championship, 1 Sweet Sixteen, 2 Elite 8’s, & 2 Sub-Regional wins. However, with all of the great accomplishments that have been made by the girls’ basketball team, due to Covid our budget does not allow for the purchase of new uniforms. With the success of our basketball program, our girls deserve new uniforms. Many of these players participate in multiple sports, therefore, sometimes causing a strain on the parents/guardians. In the past, although we have had numerous fundraisers, parents and coaches have still had to contribute money from their own pockets to help cover team expenses. (Read more)
Hope Outdoors, Chatom, AL Chapter (Washington): We applied for this grant to help in the purchase of an Actiontrack Track Chair to be used in our aiding our disabled participants. Hope Outdoors strives to provide meaningful outdoor experiences to special needs individuals of all ages. Being active in the outdoors is something we sometimes take for granted, but for these individuals having this opportunity is sometimes only possible through these events. Adaptive equipment is necessary to provide these experiences for them, and is very expensive to purchase. Grants such as this give us the ability to have the necessary equipment available for them if needed. (Read more)
Jones House remediation (Monroe): The Jones House had major termite damage. It has been repaired, treated and is now termite free. We have contracted Lewis Pest control to maintain and install permanent Sentricon baiting stations. Ongoing efforts to secure future funding and maintain upkeep are now in place. (Read more)
Lillian Parrish (Coneuch): Hillcrest High School has a JV & Varsity volleyball team. They were in need of a new indoor volleyball net that was approved by the AHSA. The girls also needed jerseys, warmups, ball cart, & carrying bags for away games. (Read more)
Marion-Perry County Library General Expenses (Perry): For a number of years, the Marion-Perry County Library has not been able to secure enough funds at the local level to operate the library on a fulltime basis. Last year during Covid we had to reduce the number of days that we were open to three. We simply did not have enough funds to pay staff to be open more than three days a week. This year, with the funds from RC&D we have been able to pay our monthly bills and apply our local funds to staffing expenses, thus allowing us to be open four days a week. This has mean a great deal to our patrons, many of whom rely on the library on a daily basis for internet and computer service. We were also able to buy more books this year with the money that was freed up for collections when RC&D funds helped us with our utilities. (Read more)
No More Rainy Day, but the grant was revised for a beautification grant (): The original grant was to add another awning to Sparta Academy, but was revised due to not being about to provide additional needed funds. The revised grant was to add much needed beautification to the campus of Sparta Academy. The beautification added so much beauty to the campus. (Read more)
Office/Maintenance Enhancement (Dallas): The paddles were acquired so that there would be ample supply available for visitors and park attendees for boat rentals. Equipment was also purchased to help with maintenance of the grounds. Office equipment was also purchased to provide efficient and speedy service to park registrants and visitors. (Read more)
Recreation/Playground Equipment at J.F. Shields High School (Monroe): This project will be a separate fenced in area (old baseball field) at the school. This area is being designed for children to play, run, jump, and support physical coordination and flexibility and enjoyment. It will accommodate children in grades kindergarten through sixth. Rise Up RAms (): The project “Rise Up Rams” was created for the purpose of providing students with opportunities with the opportunities to increase their technology skills. Students were allowed to use Ipads acquired by the grant to improve their coding skills, learn to complete project-based learning activities, and improve their academic skills by interacting with web-based learning activities. Selma PAL After School Enrichment Program (Dallas): Selma Police Athletic League (SelmaPAL) has implemented an established youth mentoring program, summer enrichment program, and an afterschool enrichment program for area children to come and participate. Selma PAL is a recreation-oriented juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily upon athletics, recreational activities and education to help kids go right and stay right. (Read more)
Toxey VFD Safety (Choctaw): The project was safety driven, we are in the rebuilding phase of our department and we are trying to get needed equipment to better prepare us to offer services to our community. We were able to purchase 3 AED’s to place on our trucks and a the station should we encounter someone in cardiac arrest. (Read more)
