We have been thrilled to expand our preservation efforts and local history collection as we prepare to celebrate Alabama’s Bicentennial!
This project allowed our library to purchase an overhead scanner that can scan up to 18″X 24″ newspapers and oversized historical books and documents that can then be printed, saved , and shared with others. Citizens and visitors have used the scanner already to preserve documents during visits for genealogy research, family reunions, or local history projects. During Family History Research month in October, WCPL will host classes and workshops to train local historians and volunteers how to use the new equipment to complete several ongoing historical record preservation projects. We appreciate this opportunity to partner with ALA-TOM RC&D to make an impact on our community!
