Firehouse Standby Generator

· May 1, 2018 ·

To obtain a back-up power supply for the fire department in Fruitdale, Alabama.  In the event of a catastrophe, which would interrupt the utility power, the fire department could become a command center for firefighters, rescue workers, EMA, Red Cross, etc.  The fire department has plenty of room to receive and dispense disaster relief supplies.  It is located two (2) blocks from Fruitdale High School and has direct access to US Hwy 45.  The fire department is also equipped with a full kitchen, large freezer and a commercial ice machine.  With a back-up power supply, the fire department would have the capacity to charge radios and lights, refill SCBA tanks maintain rescue unit batteries, operate freezer and ice machine and provide hot meals to workers and community.  Having the Fruitdale Fire Department fully operational during a disaster would be a major benefit for the entire community.
