HHS Varsity Girls Basketball Spirit Packs

· March 9, 2021 ·

The Varsity Girls Basketball Team has a rich tradition of winning. We were AHSAA Class 3A Regional Runner-Ups.  In the last six years; they have a 97-39 record, 3 Area Championships, 1 Final Four Appearance, 1 Regional Championship, 1 Sweet Sixteen, 2 Elite 8’s, 2 Sub-Regional wins. However, with all of the great accomplishments that have been made by the girl’s basketball team, our budget does not allow for the purchase of new uniforms. With the success of our basketball program, our girls deserve new uniforms. Many of these players participate in multiple sports, therefore, sometimes causing a strain on the parents/guardians. In the past, although we have had numerous fundraisers, parents and coaches have still had to contribute money from their own pockets to help cover team expenses. This year we are anticipating another year of success.

The players are young, but they are looking for an opportunity to be powerful and represent our school with pride. They are eager to make a difference and continue the storied tradition of our basketball program. There is a saying that goes, “If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you play well. If you play good, you win!” Although this is not the ultimate goal behind the team uniforms, it does play a major part. As a former player and the Varsity Girls Basketball coach, I feel that the girls are so deserving of new uniforms. Both teams have both powered up and researched different types of uniforms. Something as simple as uniforms has really helped these young athletes understand the meaning of T.E.A.M = Together Everyone Accomplishes More.

Being from a small school in a rural area, many times we fall short of donations because sponsors and companies are drained from donating to multiple organizations. It is a tremendous task to buy new uniforms and purchase spirit packs, as well as perform to the best of their abilities on the basketball court.

Can You Hear Me Now?

· March 4, 2021 ·

With this funding, the Conecuh County Jr. Cattlemen was able to purchase a nice PA speaker system. The PA system included several sets of speakers and two sets of wireless microphones that can be used year after year for the Conecuh Steer and Heifer Show or any Jr Cattlemen event.

Time for Tech

· February 8, 2020 ·

Time for Tech is a fun, hands-on approach to teach students at Sparta Academy Math, Science, Social Studies and phonics for a technology-rich environment. This form of technology will also allow students to connect to other classrooms to expand the learning environment.

Education Outreach

· February 7, 2020 ·

November 7 and 8 2019, 1,555 students from Monroe, Baldwin, Clark, Conecuh, Escambia, Washington and Wilcox counties attended a two-day event at Rikard’s Mill in Beatrice, Alabama. The students experienced living history demonstrations and saw how rural Alabamians lived many years ago. They observed a working gristmill, blacksmith shop, cane syrup making, candle making, a potter making vessels at his wheel and other demonstrations. The demonstrators were all dressed in period clothing and the students were able to see first-hand what pioneer life was like.

4-H Makerspace-Learn by Doing!

· March 15, 2019 ·

Kids experience 4 H through in-school and after-school programs, school and community clubs and 4 H camps.
The Conecuh County 4-H program would like to have the opportunity to offer a wide variety of experiences to the children of our county. We believe that learning by doing is the most effective method of educating children. We would like to purchase materials to create a Makerspace that will aide in the development of the following skills: geospatial technology, robotics, coding & computer programming, and culinary science. Makerspaces are interactive, community-oriented spaces and projects where one can create and learn skills using a variety of different tools and materials. In a makerspace, you can explore science, technology, engineering, mathematics and your creativity! It’s about teaching children to think for themselves, think creatively, and to look for do-it-yourself solutions.
