Pine Hill Mission Food Bank and Outreach

The Pine Hill Mission Food Bank and Outreach project is about providing nutritious food  to senior citizens and needy families. We also provide help to those that have a loss from natural disasters (house fires, storms etc.). Our project is able to help at all times. We can provide food (weeks supply in case of emergency), clothing, shoes and personal need items. We offer workshops on healthy eating and free gym and aerobics class to the public.

Wilcox Area Chamber of Commerce Student Ambassador Scholarship (Revised)

As revised, this project is intended to enhance the WACC Chamber Ambassador Program by providing technology upgrades, training supplies, shirts and nametags.  These items will help  build a stronger leadership program, create digital training and program content, enhance the guest speaker experience, and provide a more professional and uniform appearance for Ambassadors at Chamber events. The Program was created to help prepare students in Wilcox County by teaching the inner workings of local economy and government, teaching valuable skills, and teaching the importance of contributing to our diverse and rural county in Alabama.

Proper Equipment for Fire Fighters

This project enabled Pine Hill Volunteer Fire Department to purchase two new sets of turn out gear. The turn out gear the Department has is either outdated or soon to be outdated and in need of replacement.

Education Outreach

· February 7, 2020 ·

November 7 and 8 2019, 1,555 students from Monroe, Baldwin, Clark, Conecuh, Escambia, Washington and Wilcox counties attended a two-day event at Rikard’s Mill in Beatrice, Alabama. The students experienced living history demonstrations and saw how rural Alabamians lived many years ago. They observed a working gristmill, blacksmith shop, cane syrup making, candle making, a potter making vessels at his wheel and other demonstrations. The demonstrators were all dressed in period clothing and the students were able to see first-hand what pioneer life was like.

Training Facility Improvements

This project includes repairs and upgrades to the bathroom at Station 1. The walls were scraped and repainted. A new sink and vanity was installed. New tile , light fixture and towel rack were installed. This also includes new canvas art for the walls of the bathroom.

The project also included new signage for Station 1 and 2. This will help the public distinguish between the two stations.
